Abstrak

Wind energy is a promising energy source. Wind energy is a renewable and abundant energy source for producing clean energy. Wind turbines are used to convert the kinetic energy contained in the movement of the wind into mechanical energy or even electrical energy. Making variations in the curvature of the savonius wind turbine blades is one form of development to improve the performance of the wind turbine. This study aims to determine the effect of blade curvature of 10%, 30% and 50% and wind speeds of 5 m/s to 10 m/s on the coefficient of power, torque, and rotational speed. The method used is experimental testing. The result is that the largest coefficient of power is in the variation of the blade curvature of 10%, which is equal to 59.0855% at a wind speed of 10 m/s The greatest torque value is in the variation of the blade curvature. 30% variation compared to other variations, namely 0.0308 Nm with the largest rotational speed value at 50% blade curvature, namely 458.6 rpm at the same speed of 10 m/s.
