ANALISIS PENGARUH SUHU TEMPERING TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK LOGAM HASIL PENGELASAN SMAW MENGGUNAKAN ELEKTRODA E-7016 PADA BAJA ASTM A-36

Abstrak
Steel is a common material used to make components for various industrial machines and vehicles. ASTM A36 plate steel is a type of structural steel that is widely used in various industries, including in the manufacture of gears, bridges, building structures, and ships. Tempering is a process in which steel that has been hardened is reheated to a certain temperature and held for a certain time to remove or reduce residual stresses and restore some of its ductility and toughness. Welding is an inseparable part of industrial growth which plays a major role in construction engineering and metal product repair. This study aims to determine the effect of tempering temperature on the mechanical properties of shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) metal using E 7016 electrodes on ASTM A36 steel. Tempering welds were carried out with temperature variations of 200ºC, 250ºC, 300ºC, 350ºC. The test results show that the highest tensile strength at a tempering temperature of 200ºC is 537.8802 Mpa. The highest bending strength was found at a tempering temperature of 300°C, which was 2732.86 MPa. The higher the tempering temperature, the lower the hardness value, but at 250ºC the hardness value of the material increases, namely 189.47 HV. The results of metallographic tests at tempering temperatures of 200°C, 300°C, 350°C show ferrous and pearlite structures where ferrite dominates over pearlite resulting in the mechanical properties of the metal being soft and ductile but at a tempering temperature of 250°C there is a structure that dominates, namely the ferrite structure compared to pearlite resulting in mechanical properties. metal is harder and stronger.
