Abstrak

Basically corrosion that occurs in ship propellers is the event of the release of electrons from metals that are in an electrolytic solution in salt water with corrosion in ship propellers which results in damage to ship propellers so a solution is needed, namely coating on the propeller -propeller. The purpose of this study was to find the best hardness and coating thickness values for nickel-chrome for marine propellers. The method used in this research is an experimental method on nickel-chrome solution and the electric voltage during the electroplating process. In this study, the highest hardness value was produced in the nickel-chrome electroplating process of 225.7 HV with an average value of 224.0 HV. And, the value of the initial hardness and nickel-chrome immersion is an electric voltage of 6 volts with a current strength of 3 amperes, an increase of 140% from the electroplating value of nickel with a layer thickness of 102.59 µm.
