Testing has an important role in ensuring and controlling software quality. Approaches that can be used to test software, one of which is the white box. This testing approach tends to be used to find errors based on the independent logical path of a program code or use basic path testing techniques. In web applications built with the php programming language, independent logical path testing can be done with several choices of testing tools, including PHPUnit and Codeception. In this study, analysis of white box testing was carried out with the basis path testing technique using a comparison of PHPUnit and Codeception tools. The web application for New Student Admissions (PPDB) of SMAN 1 Lohbener was used as a case study in this research. It was found that the two test tools were able to fulfill independent logical path searches. However, the use of Codeception is more concise when compared to PHPUnit in generating test code. In addition, Codeception provides several features that are not available in PHPUnit, such as testing user interface functionality through test code. It is still necessary to do further research on automated black-box testing through test code generation. Keywords: Basis path testing, codeception, phpunit, white box testing.
