Abstrak

Machining is the process of cutting or removing parts of materials to form the desired product. The Fan Chip is attached to and clamped to the holder or the fastening holder of the cutting tool from the CNC Milling machine, the blade from this Fan Chip is mounted with a magnet as an additional medium to vary the position of the blade when the machine is on and off. This research was conducted using the Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation test method, experimental testing to find and find out from Tool Life. Variations in the shape and number of fan blades are simulated to obtain the best shape as needed. The manufacture of the Fan Chip Prototype is carried out using a 3D Printer machine and the material used as the material for the Fan Chip, namely Polylactic Acid. The experimental process was carried out on Stainless Steel material using a Tungsten Carbide Insert cutting tool. The use of Fan Chip affects Tool Life, this is evidenced by the increase in Tool Life. During the milling process without using a Fan Chip compared to the application of a Fan Chip in the milling process, the increase in Tool Life value that occurs in the Roughing process is ± 147 minutes, at a depth of 3 mm and a spindle speed of 3000 Rpm. While in the Finishing process the Tool Life value that occurs is ± 453 minutes, at a depth of 0.9 mm and a spindle speed of 3000 Rpm.
