Abstrak

In this final project, a mini chiller is designed which is a cooling machine with a vapor compression refrigeration system which is not much different from refrigeration systems in general, but the difference is that the heat exchange in the mini chiller system does not directly cool the air but with water media such as a water chiller. This trainer is a process of cooling a hot chocolate. And before entering the cooling process, there are several processes, namely chocolate preparation, chocolate roasting, cooling after roasting, chocolate peeling, chocolate grinding, chocolate heating, chocolate molding, chocolate cooling, and packaging. This final project aims to accelerate the activities of a chocolate production, especially in the cooling stage by lowering the temperature from 50°C to 25°C - 28°C. The manufacture of this machine uses 2 methods, namely the spray mini chiller and the DX-system, but on this occasion the method used is the spray mini chiller. From the results of data collection for 10 minutes, the mini chiller can reach the desired temperature of 27 °C with a product load of 2 kg of hot chocolate. With a simple vapor compression analysis using a P-h diagram, the actual COP value is 5.56 and the system efficiency of 80% is not much different from the design data, namely 4.8 and 78% in the efficiency of the system. The results of this final project can be concluded that the mini chiller can be used as needed, namely cooling hot chocolate with a capacity of 2 kg for 10 minutes.
